Activities behind the names –
The people of Munro & Associates bring a wide and varied set of skills and experience to this organization. Although we are spread out from Tokyo to London and points all across the United Sates, this group of men and women share an additional common vision, which is to make our communities a better place.
Periodically the Munro Report will highlight the activity of one of our members making a difference in their community. This issue acknowledges Bob Meese of Poway, California and his efforts with teenagers in his part of southern California.
Bob belongs to an organization called Racers Against Drugs (RAD) based at the Cajon Speedway near San Diego. The group takes their oval track race cars to local elementary, middle and high schools. They’re enthusiasm for racing echoes their message about the ability to “get meaningful highs from life’s experiences rather than short-term highs from drugs.” They believe if children have alternatives and the means to pursue them will choose not to take drugs.
The organization started as individual efforts but soon realized they could touch more kids if they were organized. In 1994 the group registered as a non-profit corporation with Bob as its charter President. Each year since the group visits more than 40 schools and youth groups annually and as many as 50,000 kids a year hear their message and share the experience.
